From 8th Grade Advice to Life Coaching
It began in 8th grade when my English teacher asked me to secretly play the role of Dear Daphne, the advice columnist for middle school adolescent angst. And ever since, friends and strangers have been telling me their stories, seeking answers to questions they didn’t know they already had. They sensed my willingness to listen without judgment and to allow them to be exactly where they are.
Why I work with other Mid-Lifers
My personal experience has been that the belief and support systems I grew up with were really hard to believe and actually not very supportive. Even some family values were not well-aligned with my higher self. I went on a relentless study of new ways of looking at these everyday life issues and turned everything I “knew” upside down. It unseated me. I learned to listen to my body, trust my intuition, and tap into a higher level of knowing within me.
Because I’ve gone through my own change of life and understand the challenges and feelings associated with it, I sincerely want to help others navigate the strange waters of their own transformation.
My philosophy is that we are all born complete with everything we would need to fulfill our purpose in this life.
There is nothing outside of ourselves that does not already exist within. We always know (what we want, what to do, when to act), even when we claim to not. The illusion is that we lack something inside of ourselves that we spend our life looking for outside of ourselves. Obstacles may get in the way of us recognizing our inner sage but that is our true nature.
While holding a life-long fear of the water, I became certified as a scuba diver.
After a childhood swimming incident where I was submerged by a mammoth (okay, it was about three seconds and it was my dad), I could only go under water if I plugged my nose. Even then, the sensation was terrifying. I went through a life event in my 20s and decided that the best way to move past it was to do it under water. My freedom lie on the other side of that fear. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I took ownership of my life through that experience.
